I have a friend, her name is Rainbow; she comes out once in a while.
Even though I don't see her often, she always makes me smile.
I have a friend, who paints the sky yellow, orange, red, purple and blue
She only comes out on rainy days, when the clouds break through and the sun shines too.

I have a friend, her name is Rainbow. She lives way up in the sky.
She spreads her colors in a big wide arc as the clouds go rolling by.
I have a friend, her name is Rainbow. She never stays too long. 
But I don't mind, 'cause when she shows up, I get to sing this song.
